FIELD TRIPS

Our field trips are thoughtfully planned to provide enriching, safe, and exciting experiences for Explorers and Trailblazers. We believe that venturing outside of camp offers opportunities to explore, learn, and create lasting memories while fostering independence and teamwork. Below is everything you need to know about our field trip program.

FIELD TRIP SAFETY

We know how important it is to ensure your child’s safety during field trips. Here’s how Camp Happy Hall prioritizes safety on every excursion:

STAFF-TO-CAMPER RATIOS

  • Low staff-to-camper ratios are maintained to provide personalized attention and ensure close supervision.

  • Each group is accompanied by experienced Teachers, with additional support from Program Leads.

TRANSPORTATION

  • Chartered Buses: Camp Happy Hall charters buses with professional, licensed drivers who prioritize safety and reliability.

  • Walking Field Trips: When trips are within walking distance, campers travel on safe, pre-approved paths with scheduled breaks as needed.

CHECK-IN AND SUPERVISION

  • All campers are checked in and out at every location using our secure 1CORE App.

  • Campers are placed in small groups with designated staff members to ensure constant, attentive supervision throughout the trip.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

  • Staff members carry first-aid kits, emergency contact information, and fully charged mobile phones during all trips.

  • A staff member certified in CPR and First Aid is always present to handle any emergencies.

HYDRATION & SUN SAFETY

  • Campers are encouraged to bring refillable water bottles and stay hydrated throughout the trip.

  • Regular water breaks are scheduled, especially on hot days.

  • Campers must arrive with sunscreen applied. Staff will reapply sunscreen as needed during the trip using Rocky Mountain Sunscreen SPF 50 KIDS Spray Mist.

  • Shaded areas are utilized whenever possible to give campers a break from the sun.

FIELD TRIP FAQs

What does my child need to bring on field trip days?

  • Camp Happy Hall t-shirt (mandatory for easy identification).

  • Lunch in disposable containers.

  • Refillable water bottle.

  • Comfortable, closed-toed shoes.

  • Optional: small lightweight backpack for personal items.

What happens if my child arrives late on a field trip day?

We recommend arriving on time to ensure your camper can participate. If your camper arrives after the departure time, they will remain at camp with the Adventurers group until the field trip group returns.

How will I know where my child is going?

The field trip schedule is available on your camp's Location Page. Updates or changes will be communicated via email, text, and the 1CORE Family App.

Can I join my child on the field trip?
For safety and logistical reasons, field trips are limited to campers and camp staff only.

What happens in case of inclement weather or unexpected changes?
If a field trip must be canceled, campers will participate in an equally exciting alternative activity at camp. You will be notified of any changes in advance.
